Getting acceptance from a Chinese professor is one of the most challenging tasks for students. Students face difficulties in getting acceptance from professors. But In this article, you will learn what major mistakes students made when they contact professors, as a result, they got rejections or professors ignored them. if you follow the following simple steps and avoid the mistakes then it will increase the chances of acceptance.
Mistakes 1:
- One of the most common mistakes Students makes is that they copy the Motivational letter/Statement of Purpose or Cover letter content of others and do not write anything by themselves. When they attached the copy-paste Statement of others to Emails, in no time did professors detect because they have multiple years of experience in this field and as a result, your email will be ignored. Students need to write every piece of information themselves. Don’t imitate others.
Mistake 2:
- The second most common mistake made by international students is they start emailing without looking at Professor’s research work area. The best way is to read carefully the professor’s research profile and their research interest after that make a study plan or research proposal according to the research. Don’t send copy-paste emails to every professor.
Mistake 3:
- Most of the students send Mail to the professor in the evening which is not a good time to send it Because China is three hours ahead of us, so the best time to send Emails to Chinese professors is at five or six in the morning that time their office time begins. When applicants send Emails in the morning then its more chance that professors will respond to them on that day if he/she interested in them. otherwise, they delete your Email.
Mistake 4:
- I personally saw many students send emails to 200+ professors only in a single day, they don’t check if this professor has the same area of interest as me or not. They just send emails that are quite offensive. The impression of one candidate spoils the chance of other candidates. Because when you send an email to professor you are representing your country. if you send irrelevant details or disturb professors again and again then the professor adopts a negative perception toward the candidate of a particular country. So you need to send Emails to the relevant Profs only in one university rather than sending 100 Emails to irrelevant professors. If Profs can’t respond then send a reminder after 3 or 4 days.
Mistake 5:
- Most student’s attached all documents in the mail like DMC, Passport, CV, Police certificate, etc. Only Cover Letter written in the email body attached professional resume + study plan + Research proposal sent to the professor. Don’t send DMC, Passport, and police certificate at the initial stage, Provide those documents letter if the professor asked for them.
Tip: Avoid these mistakes and start again. Sending emails is not costly, just invest your time in your documents and prepare your self.
