The International Student Scholarship (ISS) program is offered by Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik Ibrahim to international students who want to experience moderate-Islamic education in Indonesia.
This scholarship covers full tuition and is available for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students in the 2023 academic year. The university’s education system combines science and religion to provide spiritual and intellectual growth for students to share in their home countries.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a foreign citizen who has completed secondary school for the Bachelor’s program or holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree for the Master’s or Doctoral program, respectively. You must also have good academic results from your previous education level and no legal issues.

Requirements for Scholarships:
General Requirements:
- Complete the application form
- Submit a copy of a valid passport/ID
- Provide a copy of the last diploma and transcript
- Send a recent formal photo (4 x 6 sized)
- Attach a curriculum vitae
- Write a motivation letter
- Provide a reference/recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate
- Submit a certificate of clearance from the authority of the origin country
- Attach a certificate of Arabic/English language proficiency
- Attach a certificate of Indonesian language proficiency (optional)
- All documents must be translated into English or Indonesian
Special Requirements:
- Applicants for Bachelor programs must not be older than 23 years old on April 1st, 2023
- Applicants for Master programs must not be older than 35 years old on April 1st, 2023
- Applicants for Doctorate programs must not be older than 45 years old on April 1st, 2023
- Applicants for Doctoral programs must submit a dissertation/research proposal.
